ABOUT US

Refuge Reformed Baptist Church is a new congregation in Barnesville, Ohio, founded on the firm belief in the inerrancy and final authority of the Holy Bible and dedicated to glorifying God through faithful obedience to the Great Commission. The church's purpose is holistic: to glorify God by worshipping Him publicly and privately, engaging in personal evangelism, supporting missionary endeavors, and making disciples of all nations. Central to this mission is the faithful preaching and teaching of the Scriptures and encouraging consistent Christian living marked by Christlike love. As affirmed by the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, the church holds to classic Reformed Baptist doctrine, believing in the Triune God, the substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ, and the personal, visible return of the Lord.

OUR VISION

Seeking to establish a vibrant, gospel-centered community in the Ohio Valley. We are a Reformed Baptist church that prioritizes expository preaching and intentional discipleship.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Refuge Reformed Baptist Church is committed to the historic, saving truths of Christianity. We affirm the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy.

OUR COMMUNITY

Our commitment is to be a faithful, active part of the fabric of this community

Our Vision

We are a Reformed Baptist church in the Ohio Valley committed to the conviction that the Gospel is the power of God for salvation and for Christian living. We are seeking to establish a vibrant, gospel-centered community that is built on something solid and lasting: the unchanging Word of God. This commitment manifests in our approach to worship, where we prioritize expository preaching. We believe that by faithfully teaching the entire counsel of Scripture—passage by passage—we are best equipped for true spiritual growth. More than just weekly meetings, we practice intentional discipleship, striving to make Christ's commands central to our homes, our friendships, and our daily service in the community. Join us in this work as we seek to know the depths of God's truth and live out those truths as a unified body of believers.

Refuge Reformed Baptist Church is committed to the historic, saving truths of Christianity. We affirm the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy and stand on the following core convictions:

The Authority of Scripture

  • We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God, inerrant and infallible in the original writings, and are of supreme and final authority for faith and life.

God and the Trinity

  • We believe in one God eternally existing in one essence, yet manifested as three co-equal persons: the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and by indwelling, He is the life of the believer and empowers the preaching and teaching of the gospel.

Jesus Christ and Salvation

  • We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born to the virgin Mary.

  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice.

  • We believe in the resurrection of His crucified body, His ascension into heaven, and His present life there as our High Priest and Advocate.

  • We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again by the Holy Spirit and become children of God and heirs of eternal life, justified solely on the basis of His shed blood.

Humanity, Sin, and Eternal Destiny

  • We believe that mankind was created in the image of God but sinned, incurring not only physical death but spiritual death (separation from God), and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature.

  • We believe in the blessed hope, which is the personal, visible, and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

  • We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting conscious suffering of the lost in hell, and the eternal fellowship of the saved in heaven.

  • We believe in the existence of a personal devil who, along with his angels and all who do not receive Christ, will eternally perish in the lake of fire.

The Church and Ordinances

  • We believe in the Church, whose mission is to preach the Scriptures to all the world. All of its endeavors are guided by multiple shepherds (elders) and supported by the wise stewardship of God's people.

  • We believe that the two ordinances of the Church, instituted by our Lord, are Believer’s Baptism and the Lord's Table (Communion).

What We Believe

Our Community

We are a church plant with a deep and genuine love for Barnesville and the greater Belmont County area. We cherish the rich history, the community, and the natural beauty of the Appalachian foothills that define this region. Our commitment is to be a faithful, active part of the fabric of this community—not simply as a building, but as neighbors who care. We want to see lives transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, bringing hope, stability, and enduring truth into the homes and hearts of the people who call this beautiful corner of Ohio home. We are here to serve, to share authentic fellowship, and to celebrate the love of God with everyone in the foothills, from the historic downtown to the surrounding countryside, all need Christ.
